Blinds
The beauty of well chosen blinds is that they offer functional advantages by protecting your soft furnishings from the effects of prolonged exposure to sunshine while adding a unique touch to any room. Much like well chosen effect lighting blinds are one of those factors in home decor that can totally change the feel of a living space - but do so in a subtle way that often goes unremarked. We can help you select the perfect blinds to make that space sing for you.
Wood Blinds and Faux Wood Blinds Wood blinds offer that timeless touch and a naturally warm color and surface that rounds off any room beautifully. As well as looking great and hanging straight wood blinds are also natural insulators and so keep out UV and the heat of the sun while helping retain the indoor heat in Winter. They do have one downside however; they aren’t great where there’s a lot of moisture in the air as they tend to absorb it and that can lead to discoloration or deformation. That’s a problem in areas with high humidity, including bathrooms and kitchens which is why in some locations we recommend faux wood blinds. Faux wood blinds are made from a durable polymer that looks exactly like wood but is water resistant and easier to clean as a result. Aluminum Blinds and Vinyl Blinds Both aluminum and vinyl blinds offer a world of great-looking possibilities, each with their own advantages. Aluminum is tougher and less prone to UV damage than vinyl but vinyl is more flexible so in rooms where there are questing young fingers and frequent ball games aluminum blinds can get dented where vinyl is more likely to shrug off the rough stuff. That said aluminum can be repaired where vinyl is replaced. Vinyl can also offer different looks since it can be textured while aluminum offers better cooling ability for rooms where the windows are directly exposed. Vertical Blinds and Vertical Blind Alternatives While the classic horizontal blinds are perfect for small, thin, or tall windows, bigger window spaces can benefit from vertical blinds. Vertical blinds enhance the sense of height with their long slats and can be pulled back to give a completely uninterrupted view from picture windows. Alternatives such as sliding panel blinds can go a step further and give a great designer look for those signature window spaces. Motorized Blinds Whether you go for a remote control, a wand attached to the blinds, or the increasingly popular remote controlled by your voice recognition system the joy of having your blinds drawn by an unseen mechanical hand will always seem a bit magic. Talk to us about the different options for motorized blinds and never have to lift a hand to them again. |
